Smart Phones

Lets talk about the iPhone, the Droid and all the other smart phones out there and how this rapidly growing technology is changing the way we surf the web and get our information.

It use to be that you needed a computer and your home page set to Google to find a product or service.  Now you  don't need to be at your desk or in the office or even in a hot spot with your laptop. All you need is your Droid or similar device and you can do just about everything you could do on your computer.

So why is this important?

The reason is that 99% of web sites are not phone enabled (this one is). This puts you at a significant disadvantage if potential clients are access the web and searching using their phones.  The recent proliferation of phone apps makes the case very clearly. The need to extend web functionality to the phone is obvious, while you can spend 10 minutes spreading your fingers and panning right and left, to see a typical web site, others detect that they are being accessed by a smart phone and serve-up the mobile phone version of the site that is made for the phones small screen. Eventually all sites will have to be phone ready.
